Recipes for HumansFranken-Fingers, Kraken's Tentacles, Witch's Brew

INGREDIENTS:

Cupcakes — either fresh-made, or store-bought

Vanilla frosting (or any frosting that is white)

Red icing gel

Black icing gel

Food coloring

Mini marshmallows

Candy corn

Necco® wafers

Gum drops

Gummy worms

Fruit roll-ups

Any other candy you have around the house

DIRECTIONS:

Devil Cupcake

1). Cut at an angle, down the side of the cupcake from the top edge to about 1/4 of the way from the bottom. This will allow the cupcake to sit on its side without rolling. Then, make a cut, straight down the middle of the cake, to about 3/4 of the way through. This will make the "mouth".

2). Mix together 1 tbsp vanilla frosting with three drops of Red food coloring. Use this to ice the "face" of the cupcake.

3). Cut the tips off of two candy corn, so you are left with only the white portion. Insert those into the "mouth".

4). Put a dab of icing on the bottom of two more candy corns and affix them to the top. The icing will act like a glue, keeping the "horns" in place.

5). Using the Black icing gel, paint a face onto the cupcake.

Blue Monster

1). Cut at an angle, down the side of the cupcake from the top edge to about 1/4 of the way from the bottom. This will allow the cupcake to sit on its side without rolling. Then, make a cut, straight down the middle of the cake, to about 3/4 of the way through. This will make the "mouth".

2). Mix together 1 tbsp vanilla frosting with three drops of Blue food coloring. Use this to ice the "face" of the cupcake.

3). Cut two mini marshmallow in half. Insert two of the halves into the "mouth" to make "teeth". Place the other two on the "face" and dot with Black icing gel to make "eyes".

4). Cut a thin triangle from the fruit roll-up and insert it between the teeth, making a tongue.

5). Put a line of Red icing gel around the mouth to make lips.

Green Monster

1). Cut at an angle, down the side of the cupcake from the top edge to about 1/4 of the way from the bottom. This will allow the cupcake to sit on its side without rolling.

3). Place two White Necco wafers on the "face", and dot them with Black icing gel to make "eyes".

4). Cut the ends off of a gummy worm. Put a dab of frosting on each of the piece, to act as glue. Place them on top of the "head".

5). Use Red icing gel to paint a mouth.

All Eyes

1). Put a thin layer of frosting on your cupcake.

2). Starting at the center, place a mini marshmallow into the frosting. Place more mini marshmallows around it. Place them close together — you might have to squeeze 'em in. Dot each marshmallow with Black icing gel.

Grinning Monster

1). Slice the top off of the cupcake and set aside.

2). Mix together 1 tbsp vanilla frosting with three drops of Red food coloring. Use this to ice both cut-sides of the cake (top and bottom).

3). Cut two mini-marshmallows in 1/2, cut another four into 3/4 and 1/4 pieces. Place those pieces into the Red frosting on the top of the cupcake so that they are in this order: 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4. This will give your teeth a slope to them, and allow the "mouth" to sit right. (If you simply put whole marshmallows as "teeth" it just wouldn't hold together well.) Repeat the arrangement of "teeth" on the iced underside of the top-piece of cupcake.

4). Behind the teeth on the bottom part of the cupcake, put a blob of red icing. Make sure it's high enough that it will come into contact with the top part of the cupcake, when it's placed on top. This is so that the icing will act like "glue", and hold the top part of the "head" in place. Then, place the top onto the "body". You should have a big grin, at this point.

5). Mix together 1 tbsp of vanilla frosting and one drop each of Red, Green, and Blue food coloring. It'll turn Grey. Use this to frost the top of the cupcake.

6). Place two gum drops into the Grey frosting and dot with Black icing gel to make "eyes".

NOTES:
