Puppy Bowl Tail-gate Guide: Dog Bone-shaped Dessert

2 / 2

Step 1

Prepare cake/brownie mix per instructions on box, and preheat oven using guidelines provided with mix.

Step 2

Prepare cake pan by spraying the bottom and sides with nonstick cooking spray. Next, spread prepared mix evenly into pan and place pan in preheated oven.

* Please note: if your cake pan is smaller than a standard baking pan size, you may need to adjust both the amount of mix you use and the cooking time. In our example, the pan was 6 inches by 9 inches and we used all but 1/4 cup of the mix. We also cut the cooking time down by 5 minutes.

Step 3

Once the cake or brownies are done, remove from oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer dessert from the pan to a cooling rack and continue to cool until no longer warm to the touch.

Step 4

Ice the entire dessert (if desired) with the chocolate frosting. Once the chocolate frosting is complete, place about 1/2 cup vanilla frosting in a Ziploc bag. Clip off one of the bottom corners of the bag with scissors, and draw the white football laces atop the dessert. Voila! A dog-bone shaped dessert with a nod to football!
