On December 19, 2014, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit found Sea Shepherd Conservation Society U.S. and Paul Watson in violation of the Court's injunction order by transferring assets to its foreign affiliate Sea Shepherd Australia and when, during the 2012-2013 Operation Zero Tolerance, boats controlled by Sea Shepherd Australia approached closer than 500 yards of the Japanese whaling fleet. Sea Shepherd and Watson may have to pay millions of dollars to the whalers. They are considering appeal.
