This penguin species is the only one found north of the Equator! They are also one of the smallest penguin species and have many natural predators, both on the land and in the sea.

The Galapagos penguin is threatened by pollution and climate change. Storms like El Nino have wiped out many of these birds and decreased the numbers of their prey.
