The vulture is the poster child for the Carcass Diet. While this practice may not be taking Hollywood by storm, their preference for rotten flesh serves a critical purpose in the animal world, ridding the highways of disease-filled discards. If that wasn't gross enough for you, how about this: vultures do not have sweat glands, so when the heat is on, they cool off by excreting on their own legs. When the waste evaporates, it acts like a cooling fluid for the blood vessels in the skin of their feet. Wouldn't a dip in the pool be a lot easier?
