Max Emanuel is a 26-year-old, fourth year vet student from southwestern Connecticut. Max developed a strong bond with animals while on a vacation with his grandparents in Africa, and ever since then, his love for animals continues to grow. Max realized he wanted to become a vet the summer before his sophomore year of college during a month-long course in wildlife conservation and human wildlife conflict in Kenya. It was then that Max decided to transfer to the University Miami and go down the Pre-Veterinary path in his undergrad career. Two summers ago, Max volunteered at Pro Vet Wildlife Services in Hoedspruit, South Africa, where he helped provide medical care for the world's largest remaining rhino population. Max intends to specialize in small animal internal medicine, but his love for all animals inspires him to continue his work with exotics and wildlife. During Max's first year at Penn Vet, he met fellow classmate Melissa Milligan, and they immediately hit it off. Almost four years later, Max and Melissa now share a one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Philadelphia with their West Highland White Terrier (Westie), Bonny. By sharing the experience of vet school together, they have become emotional rocks for each other, pushing one another to become better vets.
